A self proclaimed arts enthusiast, Ian has been Chair of The New Streetly Youth Orchestra since January 2000 and has overseen its continued success gaining a reputation as Sutton Coldfield's leading independent Youth Orchestra.

Ian is a proud Trustee and board member of Performances Birmingham Ltd the registered charity responsible for the management of Town Hall and Symphony Hall, two iconic performance venues in the heart of Birmingham City Centre.

In March 2011 he was asked by Birmingham City Council to establish and lead a local arts forum for Sutton Coldfield signalling the birth of Made in Sutton which he managed in partnership with DanceXchange and members of the New Streetly Youth Orchestra leadership team until 2014 when he handed the leadership over to a new team.

He is also a Trustee of the Birmingham International Piano Competition which provides young pianists with the chance to further their careers and perform in world class venues.

His love of the arts started at an early age; he started playing the piano aged 9 and was a founding member of the Drama Society at Bishop Vesey's Grammar School where he produced and performed in a number of shows and has now returned as a member of the Governing body.
